Welcome to The Connection Space Community Interest Company!
We are a small not for profit Community Interest Company based in Matlock, Derbyshire Dales. We aim to provide therapeutic, active and creative projects in support of mental health and wellbeing, across the life span, including for people living with dementia. We also aim to provide valuable and meaningful volunteering roles and carer support.
OUR STORY SO FAR...
The Connection Space Community Interest Company was founded in 2017 by Mary Derrick and Robyn Hughes, local residents of Matlock, Derbyshire Dales, UK. Mary and Robyn shared a vision to create accessible, therapeutic, community based projects in support of mental health and well being. Collectively, Robyn and Mary have extensive professional experience, understanding the gaps in services and the potential to offer 'something other' than the services already existing locally. The Connections Space CIC formed and the first project - 'Care Farming for People Living with Dementia' was soon underway, following a successful funding application to the National Lottery, 'Awards for All'. This first project proved to be a great success with much positive feedback from those accessing it and volunteers within it. A number of further projects have been facilitated in response to community need for both the older and younger local populations.
